Class Dance Levels listed below are a good reference place to help you decide what level class you should be in here at NXGN NY Studios.
Basic
This class is for individuals with no dance training ever at home, studio or otherwise. Major focus is understanding grooves and training specific parts of the body to move on a particular beat called isolations.
Basic Beginner
This class is for individuals who have dance socially but have never taken any formal classes. Major focus is on application of grooves and understanding of the basic moves used in street dance.
Beginner
This class is for individuals who may have had anywhere from 0-1 year of prior dance training. Focuses of this class is learning all the beginner steps so the body may become more familiar with the vernacular. This will also be your introduction to the concept of freestyle.
Advanced Beginner
This class is for individuals who may have had anywhere from 1-4 years of prior dance training. Focuses of this class is understanding different variations of the beginner steps while incorporating different elements to change the steps. A firm understanding of groove and isolations should be attained before entering this class.
Intermediate
This class is for individuals who may have had anywhere from 1-4 years of prior dance training. The focus of this class is the application of steps as it pertains to being able to dance into a step and out of a step. This class also begins training on specific elements such as turns, jumps, and floor movements. You will also begin training in understanding choreography and putting together routines.
Advanced Intermediate
This class is for individuals with 4+ years of prior dance training. Class may often begin with a freestyle circle as the level of what will be taught that day will be gaged by the instructor. The focuses of the class will also be on specifically being in the dance world as a profession. Choreography and battle etiquette will be discussed as well as developing performance appeal.
Advanced
This class is for professional dancers and those seeking to be professional dancers. This class may contain drills, choreography, advanced floor elements, etc. This class will help the developing dancer to excel at their craft.
